Wisconsin is breaking ground in many more ways then breaking the ground for residents in how they get electricity. WPPI energy which has customers in Wisconsin, Iowa, and Upper Michigan has a purchase agreement for 20 years with the new solar energy center to be built. This will be the largest solar energy center in Wisconsin when construction is complete. Continue reading Solar Energy Center in Wisconsin
On January 30,2017 a second leak for the seaway pipeline was hit near Dallas by a construction crew causing 600,000 gallons of crude oil to spill. Enbridge is half owner of the seaway pipeline.
In late October 2016 in Cushing Oklahoma the the same seaway pipeline ruptured and leaked reports stated the spill had to be less then 50,000 gallons. The #seawaypipeline runs from Cushing OK. to Freeport Tx.
“The 400,000 barrel per day pipeline, which brings crude from Cushing, Oklahoma, down to the U.S. Gulf Coast, is a joint venture between Enterprise Products Partners LP’s, the operator, and Enbridge Inc. Enterprise was not immediately available to comment.” Stated Reuters
On Tuesday February 7 President Trump got his wish. Army Corp at Standing Rock grants the Easement without an environmental check along with the 14 day wait period. National Guard and Militarized police arrest over 70 water protectors from the Last Child Camp drilling has begun.
“What is happening now is a process, a process that needs to happen to show everyone how unjust the system is, and how it will never
have the people’s well-being in mind as long as it bends to the will of greed of Corporations, hate, anger and prejudice” Prolific The Rapper
Tensions are heating up in the Great Lakes area with Enbridge looking to move forward with pipeline 3 and 5 through Minnesota , Wisconsin and Michigan where the largest oil spill in the US at Kalamazoo causing detrimental damage to humans, water and animals. Enbridge is also planning a revitalization of pipeline 61 and talks of “twin” line pipeline 66 to run parallel.
Many environmentalists and people trying to protect natural resources and pristine lands are preparing while the indigenous keep teaching and forming allies to protect the water and their treaty lands.
Quietly in Wisconsin the oil flows underneath our lands day and night as we sleep Enbridge’s Keystone Pipeline runs four corridors of pipeline in Wisconsin and carry crude oil tar sands to other states in the US to ship to other markets overseas. As Journal Sentinel reports we receive little economic rewards and bear the burden of high risks. Along with pipelines in Western Wisconsin it is home of the “frac sand boom” which is the sand used in the fracking process.
“In fact, the system’s current capacity is equal to roughly 20% of the nation’s total oil imports. Enbridge also has plans for a new thousand-mile pipeline from Alberta to Superior that would add another 370,000 barrels per day to that flow, bringing the capacity for some 3 million barrels of oil to flow into Wisconsin each day.” Dan Agen from JSonline Continue reading Great Lakes XXL?
One of the biggest “Fake News” promoters in the USA is our government’s own Energy Information Agency. In this article linked, the Post-Carbon Institute and Resilience-dot-org take down the EIA story on how great the prospects are for fracked oil and fracked natural gas especially. Line 5 carries synthetic crude oil from Superior, Wisconsin. The original sources are tar sands bitumen from Canada, which has been refined to a “light” oil or “high sour.” Enbridge states that “heavy” diluted bitumen, which is a less refined and more corrosive product that was released into the Kalamazoo River in 2010, does not currently run through Line 5. This pipeline also carries crude oil that originated in the Bakken oil fields of North Dakota. In short, much of the oil transported through Line 5 originates in western Canada, is shipped through Michigan and the Great Lakes, and refined in Canada for markets back in Canada.
Tar sands oil is 82% more toxic in the ground than conventional oil. It also sinks to the bottom of waterways unlike conventional oil – making it very expensive and extremely difficult to clean up. Usually it is easier for companies like Enbridge to leave tar sand oil spills behind and cover them with earth.
“Former Enbridge employee John Bolenbaugh has since blown the whistle on this practice. Here he speaks at a state permit meeting in Michigan for a 64 year old pipeline running underneath the Mackinaw River. Should this pipe bust, it would contaminate the largest fresh water source in the world. ” whistleblower John Bolenbough
Under WI Governor Walkers “gang” the DNR in Wisconsin is looking like big money corporations hiding what’s really going on.
Urban Milwaukee confirms this causes confusion about the consensus view of experts worldwide.
DNR spokesperson James Dick told the Journal Sentinel that the climate change language revisions “reflects our position on this topic that we have communicated for years, that our agency regularly must respond to a variety of environmental and human stressors from drought, flooding, wind events to changing demographics.”
President of the alliance for the Great Lakes Joel Bammeier explains he does not understand why the DNR made the climate change revisions
“To me, it looks like they are trying to cover up a debate that really isn’t happening.”
Journal Sentinel explains
“The DNR now says the subject is a matter of scientific debate”
Part of the language change hidden is that scientists agree the Great Lakes region will see longer summers and shorter winters, decreased ice cover and changes in rain and snow patterns if climate change continues.
Updated : host Madison releases an article an hour ago stating
“Despite a series of surveys showing 97 percent or more of working climate scientists agree humans are causing the dramatic changes in temperature and weather”
DNR land sales
